Following the teasers from earlier this week, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia has now officially opened the order books to the 2021 Volkswagen Arteon R-Line 4Motion. The model will be locally assembled (CKD) here in Pekan, Pahang, with prices estimated to be between RM245,000 to RM255,000.
Cementing its position as VPCM’s flagship model here in Malaysia, the new Volkswagen Arteon R-Line 4Motion will be powered by a new 2.0-litre turbocharged TSI four-cylinder engine, with a significantly higher output of 280 hp and 350 Nm of torque compared to last year’s model (190 hp, 320 Nm).
The engine is paired to a seven-shift wet dual-clutch DSG transmission and the marque’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system, which translates to a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.6 seconds! Other standard items on the performance side include the Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) adaptive dampers, as well as the electronic differential lock (XDS).
The facelift Volkswagen Arteon gets a mild refresh on the outside, with changes including a slightly redesigned front fascia featuring light bar daytime-running lights across the front grille, as well as a new 3D lighting signature on the tail lights.

Our Malaysian model is dressed in the R-Line exterior package, featuring sportier R-Line trimmings such as the more aggressive bumpers, rear bootlip spoiler, and 19-inch ‘Montevideo’ alloy wheels. The Volkswagen Arteon R-Line 4Motion will also be the first model to carry the new Volkswagen and R logos here in Malaysia.
As for the interior, the new Volkswagen Arteon R-Line 4Motion here in Malaysia will come equipped with a 9.2-inch Discover Pro infotainment display with wireless App-Connect for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, paired to a fully-digital instrument cluster behind the new steering wheel with haptic touch controls and gearshift pedals.
Other highlights include the ErgoComfort sports seats wrapped in ‘Nappa Carbon’ leather, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a premium 700-watt 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
On the safety front, the new Volkswagen Arteon R-Line 4Motion in Malaysia adds on new rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot alert (Side Assist), as well as a lane departure alert feature. However, other advanced features such as autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control is still not available on the Arteon in our country.
The new Arteon R-Line 4Motion is now available for bookings at the Volkswagen eShowroom, linked here. Five exterior colours are available for selection – Lapiz Blue Metallic, Manganese Grey Metallic, Pyrite Silver Metallic, Deep Black Pearl, and Oryx White Pearl.
