Other TCOTY 2019 finalists include the BMW X3, MG HS, Subaru Forester, and the Toyota Camry. For the cars to be eligible for the award, it has to be an all-new model assembled in ASEAN, and launched in Thailand between 1st October 2018 and 30th September 2019.

The Thailand COTY award, now in its fifth year, is organised by the Thailand Automotive Journalist Association. The cars are judged by a panel of over 60 car journalists from various media outlets.

Previous TCOTY winners include the Toyota C-HR, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-3, and Ford Everest, making the Mazda 3 the first ever non-SUV car to win the award.

Locally, the Mazda 3 is available in both sedan and hatchback variants. The C-segment will be imported directly from Japan, with prices starting from RM139,620.
