Available exclusively in the Premium variant, the limited edition Proton X70 will be available in either Snow White or Flame Red and is priced at RM126,100 – about RM2,300 more than the standard model.
The 62 units available commemorates the 62nd anniversary of Malaysia’s independence and judging from the X70’s high demand, Proton believes they’ll be snapped up in no time.
Mechanically, they’re identical to the Premium variant on sale with a few aesthetic differences. Both the Snow White and Flame Red paint jobs are complemented with Quartz Black painted on the roof and A-pillar. Window visors have also been added to the limited edition look.
A rear bumper scuff plate has been added, finished with a customised “Merdeka Edition” emblem on the tailgate. On the inside, the limited edition X70 gets new floor mats, a plush trunk mat and numbered emblems at the corner of the dashboard.
“The Proton X70 Merdeka Edition was born out of Proton’s desire to celebrate Malaysia’s 62nd Merdeka anniversary. We are extremely thankful for the support of the Malaysian government and more importantly, the Malaysian car buyers so as a small gesture of gratitude, the limited edition X70 is Proton’s way of saying thank you,” said Proton CEO, Dr. Li Chunrong.
