Proton recently announced their sales performance for the first seven months of 2019 and despite shifting over 17,000 units of the Proton X70, it is still not the most popular SUV in Malaysia.
The Perodua Aruz edges the X70, claiming the title with 17,989 units delivered to customers since the start of the year. Due to its popular demand, Perodua has ramped up production for the Aruz to cut down the waiting period from 2-2.5 months to 1-1.5 months.
Perodua President and CEO, Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said: “We continue to focus on quality and delivery as our customers comes first. We thank you for your continued and strong support which has led to the Aruz being the most popular SUV in Malaysia – this is truly an important milestone for us.”
On 17 July, Perodua announced that it will increase its sales target from the initial 231,000 units to 235,000 units. Dato’ Zainal also added that Perodua is on track to meet the target by year-end as the company is facing strong demand for all its current models.
