UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has just published the Toyota Yaris on their official website, signalling the imminent launch of the new B-segment hatchback.
Like the facelifted Vios, there will be 3 variants of the Yaris available –1.5 J, 1.5 E and 1.5 G which are estimated to be priced at RM71,888, RM77,888 and RM84,888 respectively or between RM2.4k to RM5k cheaper than the Vios.

Only one powertrain is available on the new Yaris, the 2NR-FE 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i petrol engine and Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with seven virtual ratios. Output is rated at 107 hp and 140 Nm of torque driving the front wheels. There is also a Drive Mode Selector that alters the powertrain between Eco, Normal and Sport.
There will be five colour options available – Citrus Mica Metallic, Red Mica Metallic, Attitude Black, Silver Metallic and Super White II. There’s an optional aero kit available for RM2,800 on the E & G variants with a spoiler while the aero kit on the J does not include a rear spoiler (RM2,450).
While the full specifications are not released yet, equipment available on the Yaris include headlamps with follow-me-home function, Optitron Meter & Multi-information Display, electrochromic rear-view mirror, automatic climate control, DVD-AVX touchscreen infotainment with USB Mirroring and rear USB charging ports.
Safety equipment dittos the Vios with 7 airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor (PVM), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC) and Front Digital Video Recorder.
