Proton Holdings Berhad ended the first quarter of 2019 with more record setting achievements as registrations in March alone totaled to 6,145 units for an 11% market share – up 2.6% from March 2018.
“The numbers posted by Proton in 2019 is the direct result of hard work at every level within the company. These achievements are credit to the growth in the number of 3S/4S outlets, an increase in product quality, refocusing on customer service and improvements in many other areas, said CEO of Proton, Dr. Li Chunrong.
“With the forthcoming launch of our updated models later this year, PROTON is confident its investment in the business will continue to benefit sales growth,” he added.
As for the nation’s most talked about SUV, 2,979 units of the Proton X70 were registered in March alone – not only making it the best-selling SUV for the month but the most popular SUV overall for the first three months of 2019.
The figure is also a new automotive industry record in Malaysia for the most registrations by an SUV in a single month. So far, over 25,000 bookings have been made for the X70 since it was launched.
Dr. Li attributes the increase in sales to the 75 3S/4S outlets located nationwide, while adding that there will be more of such outlets in preparation for the introduction of future models.
