Taking a direct flight to China is overrated. At least that is what these bunch of enthusiastic Proton X70 owners think. A bunch of X70 owners have organised the Malaysia-China Amazing Trip 2019 to bring their very own X70 on a 13,000 km trip from Kuala Lumpur all the way to China and here is what went down on Day 1 of the trip.
Getting from Kuala Lumpur to Hatyai, Thailand in one day is not a daunting task especially with 183 hp and 285 Nm of torque at your disposal from the 1.8-litre turbocharged TGDI engine of the X70. The comfortable suspension and smooth shifting 6-speed automatic make the X70 a fantastic cruiser especially with the all-wheel-drive system equipped on this particular Executive AWD variant.
The convoy is now crossing into China from Laos taking the Asian Highway 3 that extends into Yunnan Province in China. So far, all the cars performed excellently as expected and the owners are equally pleased with their purchase. They will spend another 28 days (33 days round trip) on the road before returning to the starting point at Proton Centre of Excellence in Shah Alam.
