Toyota Mark X “GRMN” is a proper sports sedan with a 6-speed manual

Following the success of the GR Sportscar Series in Japan, Toyota has just launched their second model in the top of the line “GRMN” series, the Toyota Mark X “GRMN”. It comes with improved suspension set up, weight reduction and a six-speed manual to match the 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 engine.

Limited to 350 units only to the Japan domestic market, the Mark X “GRMN” features a sharper front bumper, new rear diffuser inserts, quad exhaust outlets, rear spoiler, “GRMN” brake calipers (18-inch front, 17-inch rear) and 19-inch BBS forged aluminium wheels wrapped in 235/45 R19 tyres at the front while the rear wears 255/35 R19 rubbers. There is also an optional carbon roof panel that further reduces the cars overall weight by 10 kg.

The “GRMN” treatment is not only cosmetic. For starters, the chassis has been stiffened with 252 additional spot-welding points while the suspension and electronic power steering have been recalibrated for better steering feel and sharper response.

These measures were taken to heighten the driving experience of the front engine rear wheel driven Mark X. As a true sports sedan, the Mark X “GRMN” adopts a 2GR-FSE 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 pushing out 318 hp and 380 Nm of torque paired to a specifically tuned six-speed manual transmission for athletic engine response and smooth shift quality.

Inside, special edition Mark X features a black theme interior with decorative carbon fibre and piano black trims, ultra-suede sports semi-bucket seat with GRMN embroidery in the backrest.

In Japan, the Toyota Mark X “GRMN” is priced at ¥5.13 million (RM193k) and is available in five exterior shade – White Pearl Crystal Shine, Silver Metallic, Black, Precious Black Pearl and Dark Red Mica Metallic.
