The refreshed Kia Grand Carnival SX gets dual monitors in the second row

To say that family MPVs are meant for the tame and domesticated is like saying that Chess is only for those who wear spectacles. Family MPVs don’t necessarily have to be boring and Naza Kia Malaysia stands by this with the introduction of theĀ Grand Carnival 2.2D SX to add a little flair to its already majestic MPV.

On the outside, the SX gets model-specific 19-inch chrome Sputtering Type alloy wheels, compared to the 18-inch set on the KX variant. At the front rests new wrap-around HID headlamps with Diamond Glitter Type Positioning Lamp and Auto Levelling System. The front grille gets refreshed with a new design that somehow strikes a resemblance with the one found on a Mercedes-Benz.Inside, the interior is furnished with burgundy two-tone leather seats with wood grain garnish for a heightened sense of comfort and luxury. Also new to the Grand Carnival’s interior is a second row console tray. A Rear Entertainment System now provides Dual Monitor screens with WiFi connectivity for the second row – adding to the carried-over 8-inch audio system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Power still comes from a 2.2-litre CRDi turbocharged diesel engine paired to a a torque converter six-speed automatic transmission. Output is rated at 190 hp with 440 Nm of torque. The Grand Carnival’s poise and comfort is a tribute to the front MacPherson suspension and rear multi-link suspension. The Grand Carnival 2.2D SX is available in a model-specific Silky Silver, along with the new Blackberry to go with the standard Snow White Pearl and Aurora Black Pearl.

Bookings are now open for the 2.2D SX which goes for RM188,888 (OTR without insurance). The SX will replace the EX which will be discontinued with immediate effect.
