BMW Group Malaysia delivered a total of 12,680 new vehicles in 2017

Achieving its finest performance in the country, BMW Group Malaysia delivered more than 12,000 units under the BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad brand in 2017 – the automaker’s seventh consecutive all-time high performance – up from 10,906 units in 2016.

Globally, the automaker achieved a new all-time sales high with a total delivery of 2,463,526 vehicles, also the seventh consecutive year of record sales. The numbers were primarily dominated by sales of BMW and MINI vehicles, with a total delivery of 2,088,283 units and 371,881 units respectively.

Of the 12,680 units delivered by BMW Group Malaysia, 10,618 units were BMW vehicles – up from 9,000 in 2016. This was driven primarily by the BMW 3 Series specifically the 330e and 330e M Sport models.

The BMW X5 xDrive40e was also the key contributor with 3,000 units sold while 400 units of the BMW 740Le xDrive were taken ownership of. The all-new BMW 5 Series launched just last year, proved to be well-received too – finding its way to 1,600 new owners.

The MINI brand also charted its best record performance in 2017 with 1,010 vehicles delivered – a 12% increase from 2016. Last year, MINI added the new Countryman, JCW Clubman and JCW Countryman to its portfolio.

For this year, BMW Group Malaysia will begin delivery of the first BMW 3 Series, 5 Series and 7 Series to Vietnam and Philippines. In support of that, the BMW Assembly Plant in Kulim will increase its local assembly capabilities to over 10,000 vehicles in 2017 with an investment of over RM 10 million.
