Polestar to launch their very own car in Shanghai next week, to rival AMG & M?

The wait is finally over. After Polestars announcement that they will break away from Volvo Cars to establish a sub-brand under Volvo Group, the Swedish brand is ready to unveil their first ever Polestar badged high-performance car on 17 October 2017.

The launch event will be held in Shanghai, China, further emphasising the company’s value towards the Chinese market. Polestar has unveiled a series of teaser images on their Instagram page which points towards a design that resembles the S90 Coupe Concept unveiled back in 2013. However, we’ll have to wait for the official launch to view the car in full.

As announced earlier that Polestar will focus on developing high-performance electric vehicles (EVs) using its access to Volvo’s existing technologies and engineering database. These information points towards a car that features Volvo design with a monstrous electric powertrain to boot. Of course, we wouldn’t mind a mean sounding petrol engine either.

Even more recently, Volvo announced that they will be building their first electric vehicle in China, suggesting that future Polestar models could potentially be built in China too. The new Polestar model will not only bear the Polestar logo, but will also be shipped globally.
