Toyota Corolla 50th Anniversary Edition introduced, only for North America



Five decades and 43 million units later, the Toyota Corolla still remains as the world’s most popular car in the world. What better way for commemorate this milestone, you ask? Well, Toyota USA conceived the Toyota Corolla 50th Anniversary Edition!

Based on the current 11th generation Corolla sedan, only 8,000 units of this variant will be made, all of which are allocated for the North American market. The exclusivities for this edition include a new front grille with updated LED headlamps and an attractive Black Cherry Pearl exterior colour. Inside, it’s equipped with a 7-inch infotainment screen, updated colour schemes, Softex-trimmed sport seats, updated climate control panel and circular air vents.toyota-corolla-50th-anni-3

All Corollas sold in the North America come fitted with Toyota Safety Sense-P (TSS-P) technology, including this special-run variant. The active safety kit grants Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Automatic High Beams.

The mechanics remain unchanged. Both the United States and Canada get the 132 hp 1.8-litre four cylinder engine (with Dual VVTI) that is mated to a seven-speed Continuously Variable Transmission with Intelligence Shift (CVTi-S).toyota-corolla-50th-anni-1

In Malaysia, the Corolla Altis is due for a facelift, especially with Honda reaping the bulk of the C-Segment sales with their new turbocharged Civic. It’s only a matter of time now before we get the facelifted Altis.
