Hyundai Ioniq previewed ahead of Korean debut, goes against the Prius!

Hyundai Motor is set to launch their latest product, the Hyundai Ioniq, a new electrical vehicle (EV) vehicle that will come with three choices of powertrains. Yes, that’s right, you can choose to either go full-electric, plug-in hybrid or petrol-electric hybrid via a flick of a button in a car!

As seen with these latest preview images, the Ioniq suggests an aerodynamically optimised exterior shell, aimed at minimising wind resistance whilst improving airflow efficiency. Hyundai also promises that a unique exterior colour reserved solely for the Ioniq. The Korean giant’s design language also applies from the hexagonal grille to the C-pillar, although it’s not clear if it’s taken from the current Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 – as seen in the new Hyundai Sonata LF – or a more evolved version of it.ioniq2

A combination of cool blue trim and eco-friendly materials await the driver and passenger, creating a sense of futuristic yet warm cabin ambiance. Apart from that, its cabin is also designed with sound ergonomics in mind, while the centre tunnel resembles that of a Porsche.

The hallmark of the Ioniq is its three energy-efficient powertrains; a petrol-electric hybrid,plug-in hybrid and full electric propulsion vehicle. That said, Hyundai is working very seriously with the Ioniq, hoping to give established rivals such as the Toyota Prius and even Tesla a run for their money.ioniq3
