Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) has just officially launched the limited edition Volkswagen Polo Trophy at the Polo Rally Weekend event. The three-day event, held at the Setia City Convention Centre carpark, aims to give customers a peek into Volkswagen’s WRC division through various activities.
The 100-unit Polo Trophy is based on the locally assembled 1.6-litre MPI hatchback (no sedan, because WRC), and is of the facelift variant. Exclusive to the Polo Trophy are WRC decals on the front and side of the car, gloss black side mirrors and a unique, black rear spoiler.
When the Polo CKD was launched, the hatchback carried a price tag of RM87,888. But following the implementation of GST, it shot up to RM89,888 – also the very same price VGM is asking for the Polo Trophy. What else besides the stickers, then? Inside the car, buyers will get a new head unit that is the touchscreen display with GPS navigation. It also comes with free tinting on all windows.
Just to refresh your mind, the 1.6-litre port injection engine makes 104 horsepower and 153 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic torque converter that channels drive to the front wheels.
The Polo Trophy will continue to be on display at the Polo Rally Weekend, so be sure to visit and see it in the flesh. For those who seek more thrills from the Volkswagen brand, VGM is offering up to RM30,000 in savings for the Golf GTI, Golf R and Scirocco R. The promotion ends on 30 September 2015.
