The locally assembled iCaur V23 is coming to Malaysia real soon

iCaur Malaysia has dropped a shadowy teaser on its social media pages, showing what appears to be the front end of the iCaur V23 against the backdrop of the Petronas Twin Towers. In the post’s caption, the company says, “Something is about to roll in, and it was born to stand out.” Putting two and two together, it appears a locally assembled (CKD) iCaur V23 is set to make its local debut very soon.

The iCaur V23 was launched in Malaysia in November last year as a fully imported (CBU) model. It is offered in two variants: a 2WD and an AWD, priced at RM119,800 and RM132,800 respectively, on-the-road without insurance.

The iCaur V23 2WD features a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 136 hp and 180 Nm. This enables a 0-100 km/h sprint in 11 seconds before reaching a top speed of 140 km/h. Power comes from a 59.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering up to 360 km of range under the NEDC cycle.

The iWD variant, meanwhile, adds a second electric motor on the front axle for all-wheel drive (AWD). Combined, total output increases to 211 hp and 292 Nm, cutting the century sprint to 7.5 seconds while retaining the same 140 km/h top speed. It also receives a larger 81.8 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery, extending the claimed NEDC range to 430 km.

Inside, both variants adopt a retro-futuristic design theme with boxy air vents and rotary climate control knobs. A 15.4-inch central infotainment display comes as standard, alongside faux leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a wireless charging pad, and a multifunction steering wheel.

Both variants are also equipped with a 540-degree surround-view camera and a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB).

This comes after the iCaur 03 became the brand’s first locally assembled (CKD) model, with the first units rolling off Chery Corporate Malaysia’s assembly plant in Shah Alam. Interestingly, the CKD iCaur 03 is offered only in its flagship iWD variant, yet it retained pricing that was virtually unchanged from the earlier CBU model. If the same strategy is adopted for the V23, buyers could be in for similarly competitive pricing.
