GWM Malaysia has previewed the Haval H7 Hi4 PHEV in left-hand drive guise at KLIMS 2026, showcasing a plug-in hybrid off-roader claiming a combined range of over 1,000 km. Despite the left-hand drive setup on display, the rugged SUV could be slated for a potential local launch.
In China, the Haval H7 is known as the Haval Raptor, a name that will undoubtedly cause some of you to draw immediate parallels to the Ford Raptor. It is highly likely that GWM renamed the vehicle for international markets to head off trademark disputes and prevent unnecessary confusion among customers.
Measuring 4,800 mm long, 1,950 mm wide, and 1,843 mm tall with a 2,738 mm wheelbase, the Haval H7 is a large SUV, comparable in size to the GWM Tank 300, whilst remaining smaller than the GWM Tank 500.
The exterior design of the Haval H7 embraces a rugged, utilitarian look, complete with an externally mounted spare tyre. Despite utilising a monocoque chassis, it features a 25-degree approach angle, a 32-degree departure angle, and a 20.1-degree breakover angle.

Additional off-road features include an electronic rear differential lock and boast a maximum water wading depth of 580 mm.
Beyond these off-road capabilities, the powertrain consists of a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine paired with a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. Two traction motors split duties between the front and rear axles to generate a combined output of 370 hp and 750 Nm sent to an all-wheel drive (AWD) setup.
This robust setup propels the Haval H7 Hi4 PHEV from 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds, offering a claimed pure EV range of up to 150 km on the CLTC cycle and a total combined range exceeding 1,000 km. The company did not disclose battery and charging specifications, but referencing the Haval H7 bound for the Philippines, the H7 there features a 19.09 kWh battery and supports AC charging at 6.6 kW and DC charging at 34 kW.
While GWM Malaysia has yet to confirm specific details for the local market, the Philippine-spec Haval H7 features a 15.6-inch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Additional amenities include a two-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a column-mounted gear shift lever, and a chilled storage compartment in the centre console.
Should GWM Malaysia decide to officially greenlight the Haval H7 Hi4 PHEV for the local market, do not expect it to come cheap. Considering its larger dimensions next to the Tank 300, we guess its price tag could comfortably sit north of the RM259,800 commanded by the recently launched GWM Tank 300 HEV.
