UMW Toyota Motor has launched the updated 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross HEV GR-S in Malaysia, with prices for the hybrid crossover remaining unchanged at RM148,800, on-the-road, without insurance. The wider Corolla Cross line-up remains unchanged, with the 1.8 V petrol and 1.8 HEV models still offered locally.
- Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 V – RM133,800
- Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 HEV – RM140,800
- Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 HEV GR-S – RM148,800

The changes to the Corolla Cross GR-S are remarkably subtle, as the updated model looks nearly identical to the outgoing version at first glance. However, a closer look reveals a slightly redesigned front grille, where the previous trim piece linking the Toyota emblem has been removed for a cleaner look.
This is matched by a tweaked front bumper and an updated front skid plate, trading ruggedness for a more streamlined and sportier character. Even so, the update remains relatively tame compared to the Japanese-market variant, which features a more aggressive front bumper inspired by the GR Corolla.
Moving along the side, the skirts have been slightly reprofiled with a more distinct profile, unlike the smooth finish of the previous model. The rear of the SUV receives similar treatment, featuring a new diffuser-style design and a refreshed rear skid plate to complete the exterior makeover.
Otherwise, the rest of the exterior kit remains the same with the following equipment:
- Bi-LED headlights with sequential turn signal
- LED taillights
- LED daytime running lights (DRLs)
- Acoustic front windshield
- Auto-fold side mirrors with reverse link
- Powered tailgate with kick sensor
- Roof rails
- GR Sport 18-inch alloy wheels
- GR Sport radiator grille
- GR Sport rear bumper with air diffuser
- GR Sport emblem
Inside, the GR-S turns up its sporty antics further. While the outgoing model already featured red stitching and embossed logos, the update adds bold red highlights across the instrument panel and door trims. The red theme also now extends to the seatbelts, while the previous embossed logos on the headrests have been replaced with embroidery of the “GR” emblem. These updates, along with new dark silver trim elements, complete the interior’s cabin makeover.
Otherwise, the rest of the interior kit remains the same as before, featuring:
- 12.3-inch full-colour digital instrument cluster
- 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Six-speaker sound system
- Dual-zone automatic climate control with rear air-conditioning vents
- Eight-way power-adjustable driver seat
- 60:40 split-folding and rear reclining rear seats
- Four selectable drive modes (Power, Eco, Normal and EV)
- Electrochromic rearview mirror
- Ambient lighting
- Electronic parking brake (EPB)
- Wireless charging pad
- Black leather upholstery with red stitching and GR embroidery
- Red stitching on centre console with sliding armrest
- GR-specific floor mats
- Leather upholstered multi-function steering wheel with GR emblem
The powertrain department too remains unchanged. It features a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine making 98 hp/142 Nm, paired with an electric motor contributing 72 hp/163 Nm for a total system output of 122 hp. The GR-Sport variant retains its variant-specific ECU and a sportier suspension setup, which should continue to provide a slightly more engaging driving experience through the E-CVT, compared to its normal siblings.
In terms of safety, the facelift Toyota Corolla Cross is equipped with seven airbags as standard and is equipped with Toyota’s Safety Sense system suite of ADAS features, which includes:
- Pre-collision System (PCS)
- Lane departure alert (LDA)
- Adaptive cruise control (ACC)
- Lane trace assist (LTA)
- Automatic high beam (AHB)
- Blind spot monitors (BSM)
- Rear cross traffic alert (RCTA)
- Emergency brake signal (ESS)
- Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)
- Four front and four rear parking sensors
Colour options for the GR-S also remain unchanged, offering three dual-tone paint jobs with a contrasting black roof. These include Platinum White Pearl, which costs an additional RM2,000, as well as Red Mica Metallic and Dark Turquoise, both of which are priced at an extra RM1,500.
To recap, the updated Toyota Corolla Cross is priced from RM148,800. Included in the price is a five-year unlimited mileage warranty along with an eight-year unlimited mileage warranty for the hybrid battery pack, inverter, and power management control ECU. Customers can opt to extend the warranty for the battery pack and high-voltage components by an additional two years, at RM2,950, bringing the total warranty period to 10 years.
