According to a report by The Star, citing Maybank Investment Bank Research, Bermaz Motor is planning to introduce the locally assembled (CKD) Mazda CX-80 and the all-new third-generation Mazda CX-5 in Malaysia in fiscal year 2027. The report adds that a new, as-yet-unnamed Mazda B-segment SUV is also slated for introduction as a CKD model, with a timeline of fiscal year 2028.
The most exciting of the trio – at least for now – is undoubtedly the all-new third-generation Mazda CX-5 that was unveiled globally in July 2025. It features a bolder design, showcasing the latest iteration of Mazda’s “Soul of Motion” design language. Key exterior updates include new daytime running lights arranged in a staggered design and a front grille that now features a new black trim.

Compared to its predecessor, the third-generation Mazda CX-5 is larger than its predecessor, measuring 4,690 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, and 1,695 mm tall. The interior also features a new design with a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a fully digital driver’s instrument cluster, and a new three-spoke steering wheel featuring the “Mazda” typeface instead of the traditional emblem.
The debut powertrain for the all-new CX-5 in European markets is the e-Skyactiv G 2.5, which includes the Mazda M Hybrid mild-hybrid system, producing 141 hp and 238 Nm of torque. Mazda has also stated that the all-new CX-5 is slated to receive the anticipated Skyactiv-Z engine, featuring the company’s unique hybrid powertrain, in 2027.
The CX-80, meanwhile, would likely join the CX-60 as the two models from Mazda’s Large Product group to be locally assembled here in Malaysia. Bermaz Auto Group Chief Executive Director, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Ben Yeoh, recently hinted at its CKD plans for the latter during a press conference at the launch of the model recently.
As for the unnamed B-segment SUV, it could be the “new compact SUV” revealed during the announcement of the marque’s mild hybrid (MHEV) production hub in Thailand.

In a separate announcement published by Bermaz Motor, the company also confirms that the new Mazda 3 1.5G High Plus will be launched in Malaysia by the end of October 2025.
The new Mazda 3 variant, which opened for booking in June 2025, marks the return of the SkyActiv-G 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine to the model, as it was previously discontinued as part of the model’s facelift in 2023. The naturally-aspirated mill produces 118 hp and 153 Nm to the model.
Available in both Sedan and Liftback body styles, the new model has an estimated starting price of RM119,620, which is RM29,700 cheaper than the previous 1.5-litre variant of the Mazda 3 and will be fully imported (CBU) from Japan.
Based on the booking site, the Mazda 3 1.5G High Plus will be equipped with leather-upholstered seats with a memory function, a wireless phone charger, and a 10.25-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay.
Other standard equipment includes keyless entry, automatic rain-sensing wipers, and LED signature lighting. The new Mazda 3 1.5LG is also expected to feature a suite of ADAS features, which could include Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with stop and go, cruising and traffic support, a lane keep assist system, and front cross traffic alert.
