BMW just sold its 3-millionth electrified vehicle

BMW Group has just achieved a historic milestone with three million electrified vehicles sold. Announced through a press release, the Munich carmaker says that this was achieved thanks to the strong sales performance of plug-in-hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and fully electric models (EVs) in the first half of 2025.

Electrified vehicles now make up for over 40% of all BMW sales, of which, 60% of those went to Europe, making the region the biggest contributor to the group’s success. PHEV models from BMW saw the most growth, achieving a significant sales increase in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period last year.

In that period, more than one in four BMW Group vehicles sold is also an electrified model, the company said.

The special three-millionth electrified vehicle was a BMW 330e plug-in-hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) that was handed over from the Munich plant to a customer. The car is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic gearbox mated to an electric motor, producing a total system output of 292 hp and 420 Nm

With power sent to the rear wheels, the car sprints from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and achieves a top speed of 230 km/h. The car is also fitted with a 19.5 kWh battery that supports 11 kW AC charging, delivering a full charge in just two hours and 15 minutes.

While this specific variant is not sold here, the latest 2025 BMW 3 Series range in Malaysia starts from RM292,200 on-the-road, without insurance, and inclusive of BMW’s service package.

Alongside the electrified vehicle milestone, BMW has also sold its 1.5-millionth fully electric vehicle (EV) back in July. The milestone-car was a MINI Countryman EV from the Leipzig plant, delivered to a customer in Portugal.

Moving forward, BMW Group said that its corporate strategy is “currently focused on electric, digital, and circular mobility for the future”. The company currently offers 15 EV models across all brands, along with over 10 PHEV models.

Member of the Board of BMW AG Customer, Brand, Sales, Jochen Goller, said, “With the delivery of the three millionth electrified vehicle, the BMW Group has reached another important milestone that underlines the fact that electrified vehicles are an elementary component of our technology-neutral product portfolio.”
