Tesla has dropped a spoiler alert on its Tesla Europe & Middle East X account. No, not for a movie, but the company has teased a 10-second video of a spoiler mounted on the tailgate of an undisclosed car.
The spoiler’s design looks similar to the one fitted to the Tesla Model 3 Performance. Connecting the dots, we think this might just be our very first look at the Performance variant for the facelifted 2025 Tesla Model Y.
Currently, the fastest Model Y you can buy in Malaysia is the Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD) variant, priced at RM242,450 before options.
In classic Tesla fashion, no official powertrain specifications were disclosed, but the company states that the Long Range AWD variant can do 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 201 km/h, with a WLTP-rated range of 600 km.

For comparison, the pre-facelift Model Y Performance, which was previously on sale in Malaysia for RM289,700, featured a dual-motor powertrain making 479 hp and 659 Nm, which enables a century sprint in 3.7 seconds, and a top speed of 250 km/h.
We presume that the Performance variant powertrain in the facelifted Model Y could be in the same ballpark as the Model 3 Performance, which features a dual-motor setup producing 460 hp and 723 Nm, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 261 km/h.
As usual, expect a range of other performance-related upgrades here as well, including better brakes and lighter wheels, alongside other aesthetic tweaks.

This new teaser comes during a very busy period for the American car company, particularly in China, where it recently debuted the new Model 3+ and Model Y L.
The Model 3+ is now Tesla’s longest-range model in China, offering 830 km (CLTC) of range. The Model Y L, on the other hand, is a new six-seater variant of the SUV, featuring a slightly taller profile to accommodate a new third row bench seat.
As usual, Tesla is keeping quiet on power figures for these new models, but according to a regulatory filing, the Model 3+ is equipped with an electric motor that makes 306 hp (225 kW) juiced by a 78.4 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery pack. For the Model Y L, Tesla states that it can do 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 201 km/h, while having a range of 751 km (CLTC).
