There’s a new MINI Countryman in town and it makes history in 2 ways. Firstly, it is the first generation of the MINI Countryman to get an all-electric powertrain. Secondly, it is the first MINI to be made in Germany. It also sports a radical new exterior design that divides opinions. What you see in the pictures here is the fully electric 2024 MINI Countryman SE ALL4.
The fully electric MINI Countryman is available in 2 variants globally, but for Malaysia, only one variant is sold. It was first previewed in Malaysia during the 2024 Malaysia Autoshow, and its price was finally unveiled in July this year. As the more “mature” MINI, it also now adopts a more “serious” look with its less-rounded edges.
Standard exterior equipment on the all-new MINI Countryman SE ALL4 includes its LED headlights, LED taillights, 20-inch light alloy wheels, and a powered tailgate. There are 5 metallic paint finishes and 1 non-metallic finish – Legend Grey, Smokey Green, Blazing Blue, Nanuq White, Melting Silver, and Chilli Red II. You also have the option to choose a gloss black finish for the roof and the wing mirror caps.
The “ALL4” moniker means that this electric Countryman gets an all-wheel drive (AWD) system, and that is enabled by a dual-motor setup. It is the same dual-motor setup in the BMW iX1 and it produces a maximum power output of 313 hp (metric) and 494 Nm. This setup enables a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.6 seconds and a limited top speed of 180 km/h.
As for its battery and range, The MINI Countryman SE ALL4 houses a 66.45 kWh battery pack. This gives it a range of 433 km (WLTP). Charging can be done at a maximum rate of 22 kW with AC charging for the MINI Countryman which is great news as this makes your home charging experience a lot better. DC charging in the MINI Countryman is also faster than the MINI Cooper as it can be done at a maximum rate of 130 kW. MINI says this allows charging from 10% to 80% to be done in just under 30 minutes.
Inside, the all-new MINI Countryman boasts the new industry-first circular OLED head unit. It is equipped with the latest MINI Operating System 9 and it naturally comes equipped with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Also featured in the cabin is the projection-based ambient lighting system that finds its way onto the unique fabric dashboard.
With simplicity as its main theme, the new MINI Countryman SE ALL4 gets the latest MINI steering wheel, the turn-switch style “ignition”, and a rather spacious yet minimalistic cabin. The instrument cluster design is also unique as the new Countryman uses a hologram-like design with a pop-up glass in front of the steering wheel.
As for safety, the all-new MINI Countryman is equipped with 12 ultrasonic sensors, 4 surround view cameras, and a partially-automated Level 2 driving system (in a comprehensive Driving Assistant Professional optional package).
