Welcome to the first episode of the J7 Journey! As the title implies, we’re going on a road trip again – this time with the Jaecoo J7 PHEV and GWM Haval H6 HEV up North, joined by two special guests! Four hosts, two cars, three fun challenges, and only one winner—which team will triumph over the other? We won’t reveal too much, so you’ll have to watch our full video to find out!
While the two cars in the challenge both feature hybrid powertrains, the two have a key difference. The Jaecoo J7 PHEV, as its name suggests, is a plug-in hybrid, while the GWM Haval H6 HEV features a self-charging series-parallel hybrid setup.
On the Jaecoo J7 PHEV, the powertrain consists of a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder paired with a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) that houses an electric motor. The combined system output is 347 hp and 525 Nm. Paired with an 18.3 kWh battery pack, this allows the J7 PHEV to travel up to 106 km (NEDC) in pure EV mode and achieve a combined range of 1,300 km.

On the other hand, the GWM Haval H6 also features a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder paired with a DHT, for a combined system output of 243 hp and 530 Nm. Unlike the Jaecoo, the Haval sports a much smaller 1.69 kWh battery, but still allows for a claimed range of 1,000 km on a full tank. While that’s 300 km short of what the J7 PHEV can achieve, it’s still pretty impressive nonetheless.
So, will it be Team Jaecoo J7 PHEV or Team GWM Haval H6 HEV that emerges victorious? You’ll have to watch the full video to find out, and make sure to stay tuned for more specials heading your way!
