GWM Haval H6 HEV gets new Phantom Black interior, 10-year battery warranty – price unchanged

For many, bright interior colours are synonymous to “premium”. Some people, unfortunately, are not exactly fans of that and prefer to go by the saying “always bet on black”. If you fall in the latter camp, and were considering the GWM Haval H6 HEV, the good news is GWM Malaysia has now introduced a new Phantom Black interior for the hybrid SUV.

Customers can now opt for the new Phantom Black interior colourway, which replaces the dual-tone cream and black upholstery with full-black leather, accented with white stitching for a dash of contrast, while the striking rose-gold trims on the dashboard and steering wheel are replaced with a more composed satin silver finish.

According to GWM Malaysia’s newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, Roslan Abdullah, the new Phantom Black interior option is borne out of customer feedback. He noted that there has been strong demand for a Haval H6 HEV with a full-black interior — and in response, GWM Malaysia has delivered exactly that.

Other than the new interior colour, you still get a 12.3-inch central infotainment display with a 10-inch digital instrument cluster that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Creature comforts include a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charger, and a heads-up display, just to name a few.

The GWM Haval H6 HEV is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder paired with a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) for a combined system output of 243 hp and 530 Nm. Depending on the driving conditions, the car can switch between series and parallel hybrid modes, electric drive, or pure combustion power via the onboard 1.69 kWh battery pack, delivering upwards of 1,200 km in a single tank of fuel.

Pricing starts at RM139,800 on-the-road, without insurance. It now comes with an extended 10-year or 1,000,000 km HEV battery warranty, complementing the existing seven-year/200,000 km vehicle warranty, 10-year/1,000,000 km engine warranty, and eight-year/1,000,000 km HEV system warranty.

The warranty is also now transferable to second-hand owners – although it differs slightly from what brand-new owners receive. While they still benefit from the full vehicle warranty and the same HEV battery warranty, coverage for the engine and HEV system is reduced to seven years/200,000 km and eight years/200,000 km, respectively.
