The 1,625 hp Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear is the fastest production car up Goodwood Hill Climb

While Rimac is busy chasing straight-line speed, Koenigsegg has instead chosen to take corners faster with the Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear — an even wilder track-focused version of the already-insane Jesko. This time, it has conquered the Goodwood Hill Climb, setting a new record for the fastest production car up the hill with a time of 47.14 seconds.

Piloted by Koenigsegg’s development driver Markus Lundh, the Sadair Spear’s time of 47.14 seconds beat the previous record held by the Czinger 21C by 1.68 seconds. It also edged out the 2023 Rimac Nevera time by 2.18 seconds — fuelling the intense speed war between Koenigsegg and Rimac.

Unveiled three weeks ago, the Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear is powered by a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 1,300 hp and 1,000 Nm on standard fuel, or up to 1,625 hp and 1,500 Nm on E85 fuel -25 hp more than the standard Jesko) Power is sent to the rear wheels via a nine-speed Light Speed Transmission with no flywheel, and it’ll reach a top speed of 360 km/h flat out.

Along with all this power, the Keonigsegg Sadair’s Spear adds to the Jesko’s aerodynamics with even more upgrades, such as a larger front splitter with active underbody flaps and a new active rear wing. This outrageous setup can generate 850 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, and a maximum of 1,765 kg without bleeding air. Despite all its additions, the car still weighs less than the standard Jesko at 1,385 kg.

The Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear marks the final evolution of the Jesko — a hypercar created as a tribute to Christian von Koenigsegg’s father. Named after the last horse Jesko raced back in 1976, Koenigsegg confirmed that they will only produce 30 units of Sadair’s Spear worldwide.

Now that Koenigsegg has achieved yet another accolade, we could see Rimac going for another record with their newly released Rimac Nevera R. Perhaps instead of acceleration and deceleration times, they may target setting a new lap record at the Green Hell to improve upon their previous times of the standard Nevera. That is, unless Koenigsegg has its sights set on dominating the Green Hell as well.
