Track-focused Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear marks the final form of the Jesko with 1,625 hp

Koenigsegg has once again produced a monster of a car, but instead of a rocket focused on achieving the fastest 0-400-0 km/h time like the Jesko Absolute, this time, they are taking the road-legal race car approach with the new Sadair’s Spear. Yes, there’s an apostrophe in the name.

Based on the Jesko, the Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear packs a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 making 1,300 hp and 1,000 Nm on standard fuel, or up to 1,625 hp and 1,500 Nm on E85—25 hp more than the standard Jesko. Power goes through a 9-speed Light Speed Transmission with no flywheel, which means the engine can rev to 8,500 rpm in just 0.2 seconds. Top speed? Just a casual 360 km/h.

Thanks to its carbon fibre monocoque chassis and a slew of other parts made of composite materials, the car – if you can still call it that – comes in at a kerb weight of 1,385 kg – a fairly significant 5kg lighter despite the new aerodynamic add-ons. On that note, notable aerodynamic upgrades here include a larger front splitter with active underbody flaps, as well as a new massive active rear wing.

These enhancements, combined with the Jesko’s already extreme aero foundation, allow the Sadair’s Spear to push the limits even further by generating 850 kg of downforce at 250 km/h, and a maximum of 1,765 kg without bleeding air – enough, at least in theory, to drive upside down.

Inside, the overall layout has been carried over from the standard Jesko but given a more “driver-focused” treatment. The centre console now features a dedicated keyholder in place of the gearshift knob, as shifting now done solely on the steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles.

Creature comforts include carbon bucket seats with memory foam paddings, and a removable hardtop roof – though there’s no onboard storage for the roof once it’s taken off.

The Koenigsegg Jesko was originally named in honour of founder Christian von Koenigsegg’s father, Jesko, to celebrate his 80th birthday. Jesko, a passionate jockey, is now further commemorated with this new Jesko-based creation—named after the last horse he raced in 1976, Sadair’s Spear.

Jesko was a prominent figure to the Koenigsegg company as a whole. The company emphasised that he is “an inspiration from the first days of our company until today. It also honours his lifelong passion — horse racing — and uses this thread to create the ultimate track-focused Koenigsegg.”

With that said, Koenigsegg has confirmed that the Sadair’s Spear will be the final tribute to Jesko von Koenigsegg. Just 30 units will be produced – though if you’re hoping to get your hands on one, you’re out of luck. All of them are most likely sold by the time you’re reading this.
