Marking its principal-led entry to Malaysia, Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) has launched three new models in the country, and among them is the all-new fifth-generation Hyundai Santa Fe, priced from RM225,000.
The all-new 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe is slated to be locally assembled (CKD) in Malaysia, but as HMY’s plant in Kulim, Kedah, is only set to be ready by Q3 2025, initial units of the SUV will be fully imported (CBU) for the time being.
Compared to the outgoing model, the fifth-generation Santa Fe sports a new retro-futuristic exterior in line with its siblings like the Ioniq 5. Some highlights of the Santa Fe’s exterior include the new “H” shaped headlights and the flat tailgate, which makes the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe resemble an SUV from the 1980s with a modern touch.
Inside, the fifth-generation Hyundai Santa Fe is available as a six- or seven-seater. The cabin features a Panoramic Curved display with 12.3-inch segments for the main infotainment and driver’s digital gauge cluster. Towards the centre console, you’ll find a 6.6-inch display which houses the climate controls, featuring two rotary knobs. The bottom of the display has a row of controls for vehicle settings, along with two wireless charging pads (Prestige and Calligraphy variants).

The Hyundai Santa Fe in Malaysia is available with two powertrains. Kicking off the range is a hybrid 1.6-litre turbocharged straight-four engine paired with an electric motor that makes 235 hp and 367 Nm combined. This is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox driving the front wheels.
Moving to the top range Calligraphy variant, this features a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 281 hp and 422 Nm. This is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with an all-wheel drive setup.
Alongside the launch of the Hyundai Santa Fe, HMY has also launched the new Hyundai Tucson facelift and the updated Hyundai Staria, which introduces a new Prestige seven-seater variant. These are part of seven new CKD models which HMY plans to introduce in Malaysia over the next five years.
