Experience the electric Mercedes-Benz G580’s 720-degree G-Turn at TRX – 27-29 June

Missed out on the preview of the Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Technology at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week last weekend? Well, here’s your chance to see it again, in what Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) is calling an “exclusive first look” at Raintree Plaza, The Exchange TRX, from June 27 to 29, 2025.

As revealed in a Facebook post, customers who sign up to the event will get the opportunity to check out the fully-electric (EV) G-Wagen, and even experience its unique electric off-road prowess, including going up a 40-degree ramp, plus the 720-degree G-Turn feature.

While the Mercedes-Benz G580 that was on preview in Malaysia last week was fully covered in purple decal, as seen in these photos, we expect it to be fully unveiled in all of its gelandewagen glory next weekend, giving us our first official look at the electric off-roader.

Externally, the EV G580 looks almost identical to its internal combustion siblings, except for an enclosed front grille and the rear-mounted spare tyre being exchanged for a square rear-storage box. Other than these changes, the Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Technology still retains the signature G-Class appearance.

Powering the Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Technology are four electric motors, with each axle getting a pair of these motors in a single housing. Individually, each electric motor produces 147 hp and is equipped with its own two-speed gearbox.

Altogether, these four electric motors deliver 587 hp and 1,164 Nm, propelling the EV G-Wagon from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. This is 0.4 seconds slower than the V8-equipped AMG G63, despite the EV model having 37% more torque than its petrol-guzzling sibling.

Still, the Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Technology can triumph over the G63 by offering an emissions-free range of 473 km (WLTP), thanks to its 116 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Charging is supported with AC charging at 11 kW and DC charging at 200 kW, the latter enabling a 10-80% recharge in 32 minutes.

With the second preview of the Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Technology, the launch of the EV G-Class might be happening soon, so stay tuned for our official launch coverage!
