Known for its tri-motor 1,548 hp powertrain and a 0-100 km/h time of just 1.98 seconds, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is certainly a very fast car. But those, after all, are just numbers. There’s no better way to prove a sports car’s might than lapping it around the fearsome Nurburgring Norsdchleife, and so Xiaomi has now done just that with the production version of the fully-electric (EV) “supercar”.
The results? A brisk 7:04.957 for a full lap around the Green Hell, making the Xiaomi SU7 officially the fastest four-door production car around the Nurburgring.
We say “officially”, because Xiaomi previously attempted the same feat with a prototype version of the SU7 Ultra, which lapped the ring some 18 seconds quicker at 6:46.874. However, that earlier lap was categorised under non-series or non-road-legal records, falling into the Prototypes / pre-production vehicles category.
Nonetheless, 7:04.957 is still incredibly fast for any car around the Nordschleife. Xiaomi’s new time is roughly 2.59 seconds faster than the previous record holder, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package.

Aside from setting a new lap record, Xiaomi has also announced that it is now a premium partner of the Nurburgring. A new “Xiaomi Curve” has even been added to the Grand Prix track. At the same time, Xiaomi EV has also joined the Nurburgring’s test and development drives, commonly known as the Industry Pool.
In related news, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra has also recently been announced to soon be added to the virtual racing world of the Gran Turismo game series on PlayStation consoles.
The addition of the SU7 Ultra to Gran Turismo 7 marks the first Xiaomi model – and first Chinese vehicle – to be featured in the franchise. Xiaomi will also work with Polyphony Digital, the publisher of Gran Turismo, to develop the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo concept vehicle.
So, when the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is added to Gran Turismo 7, perhaps you can try to replicate the record lap of 7:04.957 – or maybe even the faster 6:46.874?
