During the launch of the Jetour Dashing today, Jetour Auto Vice President Ke Chuandeng revealed the marque’s plans to make Malaysia its manufacturing and R&D (research and development) hub for the region.

For the former, the Chinese brand – under the Chery umbrella but operating separately in Malaysia – will be investing a total of RM560 million into a new manufacturing facility here, done in partnership with Berjaya Assembly.

“The collaboration embraces intelligent manufacturing principles aligned with Industry 4.0, integrating advanced digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things, and robotics into manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, efficiency, and flexibility,” Jetour Malaysia said in a press release.

“Through this strategic alliance, Jetour has committed to increasing its investment in Malaysia and enhancing localisation efforts, further strengthening its position in the Malaysian automotive landscape.”

Construction of the new plant is already underway, with operations expected to begin next month. The Jetour Dashing will be the first model assembled at the plant, with the company targeting a product localisation of over 40%.
