2025 Tesla Model Y facelift launched in Malaysia – 2 variants, priced from RM195k


The Tesla Model Y facelift, codenamed internally known as “Project Juniper”, has made its official debut in Malaysia. Available in two variants: Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range All-Wheel Drive, prices for the Model Y facelift start at RM195,450 on-the-road, without insurance and before optional add-ons. Both variants are currently available in a limited-release “Launch Series.” Compared to the pre-facelift Model Y, prices for the facelift Tesla Model Y has increase by RM4,450 across both variants.

The Model Y facelift boasts a new exterior design, dubbed “Cyber Design” by Tesla, inspired from the Cybertruck and Cybercab. The refreshed Model Y now features a new cross car lightbar at the front and a all-new rear lightbar at the rear, new designs for the 19-inch alloy wheels and a rear diffuser. As before, Tesla offers optional exterior equipment for the Tesla Model Y facelift, these includes colour choices and upsizing the alloy wheels from 19-inch to 20-inch alloy wheels.

Standard exterior equipment for the Tesla Model Y facelift includes:

  • Front and rear full width light bars
  • 19-inch Crossflow wheels
  • Stealth Grey colour
  • Rear diffuser

As part of the limited-release “Launch Series”, the Model Y facelift is equipped with a customised launch badge at the rear, puddle light badge and doorsill plate with unique ‘launch’ wordmark. Inside, there’s exclusive styling for the charging console and floor mats in special launch design with silver accents, and an all-black vegan suede interior upholstery.

Inside, the facelifted 2025 Tesla Model Y retains the ultra-minimalist interior with the familiar 15.4-inch central touchscreen display, while rear passengers now enjoy an 8-inch touchscreen mounted on the center console. Also new on the facelift Model Y are the double-layer silver-coated and acoustic glass for all windows and the panoramic roof for a quieter ride, and ambient lightning. Rear boot space, Tesla claims, is expandable up to 2,130-litres with the rear-seats folded down.

Unlike the Model 3, there are stalks on the steering column of the Model Y. Other from the two physical buttons on the steering wheel and stalks on the steering column, there are no physical controls in the interior of the Model Y.

Standard interior for the Tesla Model Y facelift includes:

  • 15.4-inch touchscreen display
  • 8-inch touchscreen display for rear passengers
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Double-layer silver-coated glass for all windows
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Interior upholstery finished in all-black
  • Power-recline second row seats
  • Tesla engineered audio sound system

Like the exterior, there’s also customisable options for the interior, which allows to change the interior upholstery colour form the standard all-black colour to a black and white interior, costing an additional RM5,000.

As always, Tesla does not disclose any official battery specifications, charging, or performance information for the 2025 Model Y facelift in Malaysia. However, the rear-wheel-drive variant is said to have a WLTP range of 466 km. 0-100 km/h for the rear-wheel-drive variant is 5.9 seconds.

The all-wheel-drive variant offers 551 km (WLTP), and completes the century sprint in 4.3 seconds, although this is only achievable in the “Launch Series” Long Range variant via ‘Acceleration Boost’. Both variants have the same top speed of 201 km/h. When it comes to charging, the Tesla Model Y can regain 266 km of range in 15 minutes using Tesla Superchargers.

For context, the pre-facelift Model Y rear-wheel-drive variant is equipped with a rear-mounted electric motor making 347 hp and 420 Nm, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. Its 57.5 kWh battery pack provides a WLTP range of 455 km.

The pre-facelift Long Range Dual-Motor variant is equipped with a dual-motor setup making 514 hp and 493 Nm. 0-100 km/h takes 5 seconds with a range of 533 km (WLTP) from a 75 kWh battery pack. Both pre-facelift variants of the Tesla Model Y has the same top speed of 217 km/h.

In terms of safety equipment, the Tesla Model Y facelift comes equipped with basic autopilot as standard, which includes features such as:

  • Adaptive cruise control (ACC)
  • Autonomous emergency braking (AEB)
  • Forward collision warning (FCW)
  • Blind sport monitoring (BSM)
  • Lane departure warning (LDW)

Customers of the Model Y can also opt for Enhanced Autopilot at RM16,000 and Full Self-Driving Capability at RM32,000. However, do note that the Full Self-Driving (FSD) capability is not available in Malaysia at the moment. So you’ll be paying for access to this feature once it’s available locally.

The new Tesla Model Y is now available for order at Tesla’s Malaysia website, with deliveries expected to begin by May 2025. Prices for the Model Y starts at RM195,450 for the Rear-Wheel Drive variant and RM242,450 for the Long Range All-Wheel Drive variant before options.

Included in the price is a four year or 80,000 km basic vehicle warranty, a supplemental restraint system warranty of five years or 100,000 km, and a eight-year or 160,000 km battery and drive unit warranty for the Rear-Wheel Drive variant and eight-year or 192,000 km for the Long Range All-Wheel Drive variant. Both battery and drive unit warranties comes with minimum 70% retention of Battery capacity over the warranty period.

Tesla offers a range of customisable colour options for the Model Y facelift, allowing buyers to personalise their vehicles to suit their preferences. These options include:
