The highly anticipated 2025 Tesla Model Y facelift, codenamed internally as ‘Project Juniper’, has been unveiled. The Tesla Model Y facelift is now available for order in Malaysia, with two variants on offer at launch: Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range All-Wheel Drive.
Prices for the facelift Tesla Model Y in Malaysia, before optional extras, start at RM195,450 on-the-road without insurance for the standard Rear-Wheel Drive variant, and RM242,450 for the Long Range All-Wheel Drive variant. Both variants are currently offered in a limited-release “Launch Series.”

- Tesla Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive – RM242,450 (+RM4,450)
Gone is the controversial exterior design that some likened to a toad. Tesla has heard the complaints, and the facelift Model Y sports a refreshed exterior inspired by the Cybercab and Cybertruck, which Tesla calls the “Cyber Design.”
New full-width lightbars adorn the front and rear, with the rear also receiving redesigned taillights. The overall design of the Tesla Model Y now looks sleek and futuristic.
The new Tesla Model Y also features redesigned 19-inch alloy wheels and a rear diffuser. Inside, the Model Y now features double-layer silver-coated glass for all windows and the panoramic roof, creating a quieter and more comfortable cabin by reducing UV rays and heat.

Like the updated Model 3, the new Tesla Model Y has an ultra-minimalist interior, featuring a 15.4-inch touchscreen display mounted in the centre console and an 8-inch touchscreen display for second-row passengers. Apart from two buttons on the steering wheel and stalks on the steering column, physical controls are non-existent in the interior of the Model Y.
The base Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive has a 0-100 km/h time of 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 201 km/h. Range is WLTP-rated at 466 km. The Long Range All-Wheel Drive variant boasts a longer range of 551 km (WLTP), but its top speed is the same as the base variant. However, the Launch Edition of the Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive offers a quicker 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.3 seconds.

In classic Tesla fashion, the American carmaker does not provide any official battery pack, charging, or horsepower information for the new Tesla Model Y. However, the Tesla Malaysia website states that the facelift Model Y can gain 266 km of range with just 15 minutes of charging. This is presumably achieved through Tesla’s Superchargers.
For context, the pre-facelift Model Y base variant had a single rear motor producing 347 hp and 420 Nm, achieving 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. Its 57.5 kWh battery pack provided a WLTP-rated range of 455 km.
The new Tesla Model Y is now available for order at Tesla’s Malaysia website, with deliveries expected to begin by late April 2025. Prices for the Model Y starts at RM195,450 for the Rear-Wheel Drive variant and RM242,450 for the Long Range All-Wheel Drive variant before options.
