Hyundai Motors Indonesia has officially launched the all-new 5th-generation Hyundai Santa Fe, featuring a striking new design and an efficient hybrid powertrain option.
Two trim levels are on offer in the Archipelago: the Prime and the more premium Calligraphy. Prices start at IDR 699 million (approx. RM194k) for the Prime 2.5 GDi and go up to IDR 869 million (approx. RM241k) for the Calligraphy 1.6T-GDi HEV.
Both trim levels can be had with either a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, making 194 hp and 246 Nm and paired with eight-speed automatic transmission, or a hybrid system consisting of a 1.6-litre mill and an electric motor, making a combined 235 hp and 367 Nm and paired to a six-speed automatic gearbox. The latter powertrain option replaces the turbodiesel engine that was previously available on the outgoing model in Indonesia.
The fifth-generation Santa Fe embraces a new boxy aesthetic with distinctive pixelated headlights and taillights. This modern and futuristic design language is a stark departure from the previous generation model, which has only recently been facelifted here in Malaysia.
Inside, the Indonesian Hyundai Santa Fe is offered either as a seven-seater (Prime) or six-seater (Calligraphy), the latter with captain chairs for the second row. Both variants feature leather seats and a panoramic curved display that seamlessly integrates a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital cluster under a single pane of glass, a la BMW.
Adding to the tech offering, the new Santa Fe is equipped with Hyundai Bluelink, which allows owners to control various vehicle functions, including seat heating and ventilation, remotely through a smartphone app. Over-the-air (OTA) software updates are also supported.
As the premium trim grade, the Calligraphy variants adds on a UV-C steriliser glove box, dual wireless charging pads, driver memory seats, ventilated and heated front seats, as well as a 17-speaker Bose premium sound system.
Safety-wise, only the Calligraphy variants get the full suite of Hyundai’s advanced driving assistant system (ADAS), known as Hyundai Smartsense. These include:
- Forward Collision-avoidance Assist (FCA)
- Blind-spot Collision-avoidance Assist (BCA)
- Blind-spot View Monitor (BVM)
- Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)
Currently, there are no news on the arrival of the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe here in Malaysia. Hyundai Sime Darby Motor currently offers the Santa Fe in its facelifted fourth-generation guise in CKD form. Three variants are available and they are priced at:
- RM195,888 (Santa Fe Hybrid Plus)
- RM209,888 (Santa Fe Diesel Max)
- RM215,888 (Santa Fe Hybrid Max)
