After a lengthy “preview” period (almost a year to the day!), the 2024 Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic facelift has now been finally launched here in Malaysia. The “baby AMG” continues to be locally assembled right here at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s Pekan plant, and carries a price tag of RM343,888 on-the-road and without insurance – which is about RM10k lower than the estimated pricing, and essentially unchanged from its predecessor when it was last available here.
For the money, you’ll be getting an updated M260 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four engine, now with the addition of a 48V mild hybrid system. Output figures are unchanged at 306 hp and 400 Nm, but the 48V system does provide an additional 13 hp and 150 Nm under hard acceleration, and of course, save you fuel when you’re just cruising about town.
There’s also a new 8-speed dual clutch transmission (up from the seven from before), and together with the 4Matic all-wheel drive system, the Mercedes-Benz A35 4Matic can sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds, onward to a top speed of 250 km/h.
It’ll come with AMG Ride Control adaptive dampers as standard, and to complete the package, it’s also got the AMG Line styling package on the outside, complete with red calipers behind the 19-inch five-twin-spoke alloys.
The facelift update has also introduced new lighting signatures on both the headlights and taillights, the former made up of Multibeam LED units with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus. Between them, the grille has now also been upgraded to the Panamericana units, so the others will still know that it’s a real AMG.

Just like the regular A-Class, the facelift update on the 2024 Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic also (unfortunately) meant the removal of the touchpad on the centre console, so the only way to control the 10.25-inch MBUX infotainment system is directly through the touchscreen itself.
At least, you do get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity (in full screen, finally!), and the rest of the car is also pretty well-equipped too, including AMG-exclusive displays on the screens, the AMG steering wheel with rotary dial controls, new USB-C ports with higher output power, a wireless charging pad, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear air vents, 64-colour ambient lighting, a 12-speaker 710W Burmester sound system, and a 360-degree surround view monitor.
The AMG sports seats in front are power adjustable, and are all wrapped in black Artico faux leather and Microcut microfibre upholstery, contrasted by the red seat belts.
As for safety, the new 2024 Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic in Malaysia comes equipped with the Driving Assistant Package, which consists of autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-go functionality, lane centring assist, a blind spot monitor, and an automatic parking system as part of the Parking Package.
As always, all Mercedes-Benz Malaysia cars are covered by a four-year unlimited-mileage warranty.
