Pos Malaysia & Yinson GreenTech launch 6 EV charging stations with 40 kW DC chargers across Peninsular Malaysia

Pos Malaysia Berhad (Pos Malaysia) has announced its strategic partnership with Yinson GreenTech (YGT), a green technologies solutions provider, to install ChargEV electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at selected Pos Malaysia post offices throughout Malaysia.

At launch, six outlets (Shah Alam, Ipoh, Melaka, Seremban, Alor Setar, and Johor Bahru) are already up and running, with more locations planned for future roll-out. The chargers are accessible to ChargEV users daily from 7 AM to 11 PM.

These charging stations will be equipped with one DC charger, with two CCS2-type nozzles that provide fast charging at up to 40 kW. Pos Malaysia says charging an EV up to 80% with the provided charger will require anywhere between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the EV model.

The national postal service provider also recently partnered with a myriad of brands, including Cafe Mesra, Zus Coffee, and Photobook, to offer customers a diverse range of services at its retail outlets while waiting for their EVs to charge.

“This [partnership] demonstrates our unwavering commitment to lowering carbon emissions and advancing a greener future for Malaysia, and it perfectly complements our larger sustainability initiatives and net-zero goals,” he added. The company is committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

In parallel with this partnership, Pos Malaysia recently also deployed over 40 e-Bikes to deliver mail and parcels across the Klang Valley. By the end of 2023, Pos Malaysia aims to have a combination of more than 200 e-Bikes and 140 e-Vans, across Peninsular Malaysia.
