Video: How fuel-efficient is the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid?

Recently we went on a road trip from Kuala Lumpur to Penang in the new Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid and were pleasantly surprised by it.

No, the car didn’t spread its wings and flew us to Penang but it did get us there with very, very little fuel. That’s because the Corolla Cross Hybrid only comes with a 36-litre fuel tank – that’s the size of a Perodua Myvi fuel tank!

And it wasn’t a straightforward journey to Penang either. We turned off the highway midway through the journey to test the car’s stability and handling through the winding B-roads and despite carrying additional batteries for the hybrid system, it did not affect the Corolla Cross Hybrid’s driving characteristic.

That’s not all; we also had three adults on board and luggage for a night stay. Without trying to spoil it further for you, watch and find out how thirsty (or rather thrifty) the Corolla Cross Hybrid can be and how much fuel is left upon arrival. Yes, there was still a lot of fuel left!

The Corolla Cross Hybrid is priced at RM136,550. As it is a hybrid, UMW Toyota is offering an 8-year warranty on the batteries, inverter unit, and power management control ECU. As for the crossover itself, it’ll come with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty.
