Come June 2022, BMW will build the very last V12 engine to be fitted in a production car. As such the company will offer “The Final V12”, a limited series of 12 vehicles for customers in the USA. Only those who have had a long history of V12 7 Series ownership will be invited to buy the car.
The Final V12 will be based on the M760i xDrive and is exclusive to the US market. Its 6.6-litre engine produces 609 hp and 800 Nm, paired to an 8-speed automatic.
Despite its size and weight, The Final V12 is capable of leaving most supercars behind with a 0 to 100 km/h time of 3.6 seconds. The standard 760i does it in 3.8 seconds.
On the outside, The Final V12 differentiates itself with a V12 badge at the rear, 20-inch style 760M light-alloy wheels in either grey or black, along with blue or black brake calipers.
Upon entry, passengers will be reminded of what a special car The Final V12 is, with inscriptions on the door sill and a console-mounted plaque with the serial number “1 of 12”.
Inside, The Final V12 stands out with the Luxury Rear Seat package, a Panoramic Sky Lounge LED roof, and Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound system. The “furniture” is finished with Merino leather, in various colours for customers to choose from.
Upon receiving the car, customers will also receive a custom-built desk trophy; an exact replica of the car’s specifications and colour.
BMW first introduced a V12 engine in a production car in 1987 where the naturally-aspirated, 5-liter V12 engine produced 295 hp.
