GWM has dropped a teaser for two new trims of its Ora 5 crossover in China, in the form of the Ora 5 GT and Ora 5 Sport. And spoiler alert… there are wings and splitters as part of their sportier MO.
The more striking of the duo is the Ora 5 GT, thanks to an aero kit comprising a front splitter, rear spoiler and side skirts. A charging port flap on the front fender indicates that the GT will at least be available as an EV, leaving the door open for other powertrains open but unconfirmed.
Things are kept a little muted for the Ora 5 Sport however, with a two-tone paint scheme paired with a white roof as the primary changes. It rolls on five-spoke turbine-style wheels.
Seeing that both trims pictured are EVs, with the Sport being confirmed by the Lidar unit on the roof that is exclusive to that powertrain, it remains to be seen if the HEV and ICE variants will be privy to the new trims as well.

Despite the sporty-sounding names, details are also still unavailable yet regarding performance or handling tweaks. On the Good Cat, the sportier GT variant does get a uprated front motor for extra performance, although it’s unclear if the Ora 5 will follow the same footsteps.
For now, the GWM Ora 5 in China can be had with EV, self-charging HEV, or pure-petrol ICE powertrains. For the EV, it packs a 201 hp front motor with either a 45.3- or 58.3-kWh LFP battery that gives it a CLTC range of 480 or 580 km respectively.

A 154 hp 1.5-litre turbo engine paired with a 188 hp front motor powers the HEV variant. Together with a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), the total output is 223 hp. Fuel consumption figures are rated at 4.5 l/100km.
Lastly, the ICE GWM Ora 5 runs on a 181 hp 1.5-litre engine with a variable-geometry turbocharger (VGT), paired with a seven-speed DCT. Without an electric motor, the WLTC consumption numbers are rated at 6.4 l/100km.
The Ora 5 is GWM’s first model operating its latest Coffee Pilot 3 OS that is capable of L2 assisted driving. GWM claims that the navigation on autopilot (NOA) allows it to navigate up to 3.0 km through a multi-story car park.
