Lepas Malaysia targets 30 dealerships by the end of this year – official brand launch in 1H 2026

Following an announcement in late 2025 that Lepas Malaysia will be launched locally in the first half of 2026 (1H 2026), the Chery sub-brand has now detailed its nationwide expansion. In preparation for its official market debut here, as part of the Chery Group’s multi-brand strategy, the company plans to establish 20 sales and service outlets across Peninsular and East Malaysia, with a target of 30 locations by December 2026.

The initial 20 showrooms will cover major urban centres, including Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor, Penang, Sarawak, and Sabah. These outlets will be staffed by trained sales and service personnel certified under Lepas Malaysia’s proprietary training programmes, and operations will be supported by a comprehensive parts supply network and a warranty support system, the company says.

“Designed for a generation that is confident, creative and connected, Lepas is built for individuals who seek balance in career, family, and passion, and who expect their cars to reflect their personal aesthetic and lifestyle,” said Chery Corporate Malaysia, Executive Vice President, Men Lin Bo.

“As we prepare for our 2026 debut, our focus is to ensure every customer experiences the refined design and dependable technology that define Lepas. Our growing network marks the beginning of long-term commitment to the Malaysian market,” added Men.

Lepas Malaysia has not yet confirmed which specific models will be launched here, but its current global lineup consists of the L4, L6, and L8 SUVs. These models are offered with a selection of internal combustion, hybrid, and fully-electric powertrains.

The Lepas L8 is the brand’s first model, itself being a sister model to the all-new Chery Tiggo 8 that debuted in China last year. Measuring 4,749 mm long, 1,880 mm wide, and 1,710 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,825 mm, the L8 is comparable in size to the Omoda C9 and Jaecoo J8.

It is available with a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 197 hp and 290 Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. A 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder option is also available, offering 254 hp and 390 Nm, and is paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
