Lepas ramps up Malaysian debut with signing of 20 dealer partners

At the Lepas International Business Summit in Wuhu, the brand is ramping up its Malaysian entry by signing distribution agreements with 20 local partners. The partnership is built on a shared recognition of the brand’s commercial potential as Malaysia transitions toward new energy vehicle (NEV) mobility.

Lepas aims to utilise the extensive nationwide footprint and service standards of these 20 partners to establish a standardised network. According to Lepas Senior Brand Director, Sarah Choo, the goal is to create a refined customer journey that includes seamless sales, delivery, and after-sales care, which in Malaysia, is slated for an official brand debut sometime in the first half of 2026.

“By working as one unified front, Lepas is establishing a standardised network system that promises immersive product experience, seamless sales and delivery and after-sales care. Lepas is committed to bringing the elegant mobility lifestyle to consumers across Malaysia,” added Sarah.

The initial rollout is expected to be led by the Lepas L6 and L4 SUVs. Available with a PHEV powertrain, the L6 PHEV features a ‘Super Hybrid’ system that claims a combined range of over 1,300 km and a thermal efficiency of 44.5%.

Meanwhile, the Lepas L4 is positioned as a sportier B-segment contender, recently tested by the media in Wuhu to demonstrate its 218 hp electric motor and approximately 500 km range. Local sightings of an undisguised Lepas L4 during a promotional shoot suggest that preparations for a local debut are already well underway.

These models are built on the LEX intelligent new energy platform, a dedicated architecture from the Chery Group designed to support internal combustion, hybrid, and fully electric powertrains. This modular approach allows Lepas to offer various energy options tailored to the Malaysian market’s infrastructure.

Following the signing of these 20 partners, Lepas aims to establish a total of 30 strategic touchpoints across Peninsular and East Malaysia by the end of 2026. This infrastructure will support a product strategy that prioritises technology and design, positioning the brand alongside other premium international marques under the Chery umbrella.
