2026 Tesla Model Y updated in Malaysia – larger 16-inch screen, price unchanged from RM198k

It seems our predictions were right! The Tesla Model Y in Malaysia has just received updates mirroring that of China’s recent refresh, which were originally introduced on the long-wheelbase, six-seater Tesla Model Y L. The new updates will be applicable to new orders made via the company’s configurator.

For the 2026 model year, the most notable change is a larger 16-inch centre display, now with a sharper 2560×1600 resolution, replacing the previous 15.4-inch, 1920×1200 unit. Second-row passengers also gain a new eight-inch screen behind the centre console, just like the Chinese Model Y.

Inside, the Model Y now features a black headliner and interior pillar trims — perfect for masking marks from little hands. If an all-black interior feels too claustrophobic, the white upholstery option remains available, paired to the same black headliner.

Like before, Tesla Malaysia is offering two variants for the 2026 Model Y: the Standard Range Rear-Wheel Drive from RM197,575, and the Long Range All-Wheel Drive from RM245,065, both prices on the road and excluding insurance. As the company announced recently, pricing for the Model 3 and Model Y will remain unchanged, despite the tax exemptions for fully imported (CBU) electric vehicles (EV) expiring on December 31, 2025.

Performance figures remain with the Standard Range RWD is rated for a WLTP range of 466 km and sprints from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The Long Range AWD offers 551 km (WLTP) and can reach 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. Both variants share a top speed of 201 km/h.

Charging is also fast, with the Model Y capable of regaining 266 km of range in just 15 minutes using Tesla Superchargers.

Optional features include Enhanced Autopilot at RM16,000 and Full Self-Driving Capability at RM32,000, though FSD is not yet operational in Malaysia. A range of colours are available, some bearing additional costs depending on the shade. The standard colour is Stealth Grey, while Pearl White Multi-Coat costs RM5,000 extra, Glacier Blue RM7,500, Quicksilver RM11,000, and Ultra Red RM11,000.
