Perodua’s latest challenger, the Perodua Traz, is launched in Malaysia with two variants on offer: Perodua Traz X, and Perodua Traz H. Prices for the new B-segment SUV start from RM76,100 to RM82,000, on-the-road, without insurance.

The Traz is the fourth model in Perodua’s lineup to utilise the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA), following the Perodua AtivaAxia, and Alza. It features a wheelbase of 2,620 mm, which is the longest when compared to the Proton X50 and the Chery Tiggo Cross.

Its exterior is essentially a near carbon copy of the ASEAN-region Toyota Yaris Cross, with differences being a different front bumper and grille. The rear of the Traz also receives a similar treatment with a different rear bumper design.

Inside, the Perodua Traz interior features seats upholstered in fabric and a dashboard that has a striking red trim running across the entire width of it. It is equipped with a nine-inch infotainment display that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The driver gets an analogue gauge cluster with a small 4.2-inch TFT display in the centre.

Powering the Perodua Traz is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, making 106 hp and 138 Nm. This is paired with a D-CVT gearbox that drives the front wheels. Claimed fuel consumption figures according to the Malaysian Driving Cycle (MDC) are 21.3 km/L.
