TQ Wuling Bingo EV launched in Malaysia — retro-style city runabout, 68 hp, 2 variants from RM68k

Tan Chong Motor Holdings (TCMH) has launched the TQ Wuling Bingo electric vehicle (EV) in Malaysia. Locally assembled (CKD) at TCMH’s production facility located in Segambut, the car is now available in two variants with a sticker price starting from RM67,800, on the road, without insurance, and before any early bird promotions.

  • TQ Wuling Bingo Pro – RM67,800
  • TQ Wuling Bingo Max – RM72,800

The TQ Wuling Bingo EV measures at 3,950 mm long, 1,708 mm wide, and 1,580 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,560 mm, making it smaller than the Proton eMAS 5 (stylised as e.MAS 5) and more in line with other A-segment cars such as the Perodua Axia

Unlike the Perodua Axia, though, the TQ Wuling Bingo EV here adopts a cutesy and cheerful retro-inspired design, not unlike the Fiat 500, Renault Twingo. It comes with LED headlights and taillights, subtle silver trim accents, and rides on 15-inch steel wheels. Standard exterior equipment are as such:

  • LED Auto front headlights
  • LED rear taillights
  • Rear foglamps
  • X-shaped LED Front daytime running lights (DRL)
  • Welcome home lights
  • Frameless Wipers
  • 15-inch steel wheels
  • Dual-tone exterior paint
  • Auto-folding side mirrors
  • Diamond-inspired front grille

All variants are offered in Neon Blue, Lavender Purple or Milky White exterior colours, each paired with a black roof for a dual-tone finish.

Inside, the TQ Wuling Bingo EV features dual 10.25-inch displays for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system, with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The cheerful theme continues with dual-tone interior colours and layered trim, while large, upright windows create an airy cabin with excellent outward visibility. Standard interior equipment includes:

  • 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
  • 10.25-inch centre infotainment display
  • Rotary gear selector
  • Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support
  • Perforated leatherette upholstery
  • Two-spoke multi-function steering wheel with tilt adjustment
  • Six-way electronically adjustable driver seats
  • Glossy ceramic with soft leatherette panel interior trims
  • Four-speaker sound system
  • Two USB ports

The TQ Wuling has increased the boot space slightly from 310 litres in the preview model to 395 litres, thanks to a reorganisation of compartments. If that is not enough, the space is expandable to 1,240 litres with the front and rear seats folded. It also features 15 storage compartments throughout the cabin, adding to everyday convenience for passengers.

Both variants are fitted with the same front-mounted electric motor producing 68 hp and 150 Nm of torque, with the main difference lying in their battery packs. The entry-level Pro variant is equipped with a 31.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering a CLTC-rated range of 333 km, while the Max variant features a larger 37.9 kWh LFP battery that extends the CLTC range to 410 km.

AC charging is supported at up to 7 kW, allowing a full charge in approximately 4.5 hours for the Pro variant and 5.5 hours for the Max variant. Alternatively, DC fast charging at up to 50 kW enables a 30-80% recharge in under 35 minutes for both variants.

The TQ Wuling Bingo is priced from RM67,800 on the road and without insurance. Included in the price is a five-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, an eight-year/120,000 km EV battery warranty, and an eight-year/160,000 km drive motor warranty.

In conjunction with the launch of TQ Wuling’s first EV in Malaysia, the car is also available with a special launch promotion worth over RM12,000 for the first 500 customers who have made bookings for the car.
