Following Toyota’s announcement that the GR Supra will cease production in March 2026, its Bavarian sibling is now also officially following suit. BMW has confirmed that the Z4 (G29) will also reach the end of the line at the same time, and Munich is sending off the beloved roadster with the BMW Z4 Final Edition.
It looks like BMW is mourning the eventual demise of the Z4, as the Final Edition sports an exclusive Frozen Matt Black paint job. According to BMW, this finish looks “particularly impressive” when paired with the M High-gloss Shadowline exterior trim, while M Sport brakes in high-gloss red are also included as standard.
However, if black is too gloomy for your taste, you can still also opt for the existing range of colours available for the BMW Z4 at no extra cost.
The interior theme of the Z4 Final Edition mirrors the exterior. It is equipped with Vernasca leather and Alcantara combination upholstery, featuring contrasting red seams on the M Sport seats, dashboard, centre console, and door cards.
The Final Edition package will be available for all existing variants of the Z4, regardless of transmission. This includes the entry-level sDrive20i with 197 hp, the sDrive30i with 258 hp, and the range-topping M40i with 340 hp from its 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six engine.

If you want to own one of the last remaining BMW Z4s, you will have a limited opportunity to do so, as BMW will only open a short order window for the roadster in late January 2026.
In Europe, the Final Edition trim is priced at EUR4,200 (approx. RM20k). However, it requires the M Sport package as a prerequisite, which is a feature that is already standard on the sDrive30i and M40i.
Because the base sDrive20i does not come with the M Sport kit as standard, the Final Edition trim for this variant will cost significantly more, EUR7,400 (approx. RM34k) over the sticker price, covering both the M Sport upgrade and the Final Edition specification.
When the third-generation BMW Z4 bows out in March 2026, it will mark the end of the road for the nameplate for now, concluding a history that has spanned over two decades since its debut in 2002.
It remains to be seen what BMW has planned for the Z4, as the company has remained tight-lipped regarding any potential successor. On the other hand, reports indicate that Toyota is already working on a sixth-generation Supra, which is rumoured to arrive in 2027.
