The Perodua Bezza has proven to be one of Perodua‘s best-selling cars of all time in Malaysia, but it appears the sedan’s reputation is not limited to just here in its home country too – Papua New Guinea (PNG) have also joined in the hype recently with the commission of a fleet of Perodua Bezza for use as Police cars, as seen in videos on Instagram and TikTok.

The police cars were seen in the videos rolling off from the new Perodua PNG Limited showroom in Port Moresby. The fleet mostly consisted of white units dressed in the country’s standard police livery, with one single unit, interestingly, in blue. All in all, there seem to be about 10 to 15 Perodua Bezza police cars being commissioned.

During a media session at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, regarding the brand’s vehicle exports, Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dato’ Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad told New Straits Times, “We’re proud that in countries like Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste, as well as Surabaya in Indonesia, Perodua has become a trusted name – even serving as police cars in some places.”

In addition to exporting new cars, Perodua revealed that it has also begun exporting used vehicles to Bangladesh, while actively exploring similar opportunities in Kenya and Mozambique. Acknowledging Malaysia’s growing vehicle overpopulation issue, Dato’ Seri Zainal explained that directing used Perodua cars to other markets can help ease car density locally while sustaining the company’s total industry volume (TIV) for new car sales.

While other countries are starting to get a taste of Perodua excellence, Perodua in Malaysia is gearing up for something bigger — a new, and completely Malaysian, electric vehicle (EV). Although Perodua has not revealed its name, the company showcased a half-cut prototype resembling a production-ready B-segment electric SUV at the Malaysian Autoshow 2025 earlier this year.

Expected to launch by December 2025, the much-anticipated EV is targeted to deliver a driving range of 400 km (NEDC) with support for 60 kW DC fast charging. The car will also debut a new Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme — where owners would pay a monthly fee of a “few hundred Ringgit” for the battery.

It’ll also come equipped with an advanced ADAS 2.0++ suite, with a target of achieving a five-star ANCAP safety rating. Rumoured to be priced around RM80,000, the car will be positioned to compete directly with the recently launched Proton eMAS 5 (stylised as e.MAS 5).
