Leapmotor has built their 1-millionth car — less than a year after number 500,000

Leapmotor has announced on Weibo that its one millionth vehicle has rolled off the production line in China. The feat makes it only the second startup company in China to achieve that milestone, after Li Auto did so last year.

Founded in 2015, Leapmotor reached the momentous one-million mark just 100 days after its 800,000th vehicle, 343 days after the 500,000th, and only five years after producing its very first mass-market car — a pace that founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Zhu Jiangming praised as “accelerating momentum.”

Zhu adds that the company aims to maintain this momentum to produce its next millionth vehicle as early as next year, reinforcing its position as one of China’s fastest-growing new energy vehicle (NEV) players.

Signifying its growth, Leapmotor became the fourth Chinese EV startup to go public in Hong Kong back in 2022 — following Nio, XPeng, and Li Auto. In the following year, Stellantis acquired a 20% stake in the company, and established the Leapmotor International entity to bring its cars overseas.

despite its young age, Leapmotor has already built a respectable lineup of vehicles. This includes the T03, B10, C01, C10, C11, and the recently announced D19 flagship SUV. According to CnEVPost, the diverse lineup aligns with Zhu’s pledge last year to cover a wide range of price segments over the next three years, with 13–14 models planned across the A, B, C, and D series.

Closer to home, only the Leapmotor C10 has made its way over here to Malaysia for now. The C10 features a single front-mounted electric motor producing 218 hp and 320 Nm with power sourced from a 69 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, enabling a WLTP range of 424 km.

Updated for 2025, the car now supports AC charging of up to 11 kW, while DC fast charging remains capped at 84 kW. Notable new features include a new 32-litre frunk, built-in dashcam, and Bahasa Melayu navigation support.

The updated Leapmotor C10 is now priced at RM125,000 on-the-road and without insurance — a RM34,000 drop from the previous model year. The price is inclusive of a six-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty (a four-year factory warranty plus a two-year extended warranty) along with an eight-year/160,000 km battery warranty for added peace of mind.

Earlier this year, Stellantis Malaysia announced that the B10 — an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version of the C10 — would also be coming to Malaysia.
