BMW has announced a new update for its renowned 3.0-litre B58 straight-six engine, which is set to be introduced across a wide range of M Performance models.
The updated engine now produces 392 hp and 540 Nm of torque, a healthy increase of 18 hp and 40 Nm over the outgoing powertrain, which can be found in the BMW M340i xDrive M Sport Pro sold in Malaysia, priced at RM415,200.
The updated B58 3.0-litre mill will find its way into the M240i xDrive Coupe, the M340i xDrive Sedan and Touring, as well as the M440i, available in Coupe, Gran Coupe, and Convertible guises. Thanks to the increased output, BMW says the 0-100 km/h sprint for the M340i sedan is now 0.1 seconds faster, at 4.3 seconds.
BMW also says that despite the increased output, all models benefit from improved efficiency. For instance, the WLTP fuel consumption for the BMW M240i xDrive Coupe has now dropped from 8.8–8.7 L/100 km down to 8.0 L/100 km.

As part of this product refresh, BMW has also announced several other updates across its range. From autumn 2025, the 2 Series Gran Coupe can now be equipped with the M Sport design or the full M Sport package.
The BMW 4 Series and the all-electric BMW i4 now have the option of being fitted with adaptive LED headlights, a package that also includes the striking optional laser rear taillights.
The standard equipment on the BMW X3 has been updated to include matching upholstery colours for the rear headrests and side sections of the second-row seats, on both Veganza and Merino leather upholstery options.
For users of the My BMW app, an updated charging guide will be available in the “Explore” tab starting from autumn 2025. This feature will offer relevant help on all aspects of charging.
BMW Maps’ charge-optimised route planning for all-electric vehicles has also been expanded. The feature is now available for BMW vehicles with Operating System 8 and 8.5 in six new markets: Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Romania, Serbia, and Singapore.
