Lexus Malaysia has quietly updated the NX crossover line-up here in Malaysia, with the introduction of a new NX350h Luxury variant. The new hybrid variant is priced from RM395,888 on-the-road, and without insurance, making it now the most expensive variant in the line-up here in Malaysia. According to the marque’s local website, the new variant will also replace the previously-available NX250 variant.
The main difference here is, of course, the hybrid powertrain under the bonnet, which pairs the 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated inline-four engine with two electric motors, one on the rear axle in an e-Axle all-wheel drive set-up, a Direct Shift eight-speed automatic transmission, and a small lithium-ion battery.
Altogether, the hybrid powertrain outputs 243 hp and 239 Nm of torque, which translates to a century sprint time of 7.7 seconds. Lexus also claims a combined fuel consumption figure of 5 L/100 km, and the hybrid system also does not affect its boot space, which remains at 520 litres.
For comparison’s sake, the previous NX250’s outputs were rated at 204 hp and 243 Nm, with a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 9.1 seconds, while the NX350 F Sport gets 275 hp and 430 Nm from its 2.4-litre turbocharged engine, translating to a 7.0-second century sprint time.
The new Lexus NX350h Luxury in Malaysia rides on regular steel suspensions instead of the NX350 F Sport’s adaptive variable suspension and performance dampers.
Specifications wise, the new Lexus NX350h Luxury will arrive similarly equipped to the outgoing NX250, featuring 20-inch Dark Gray Metallic wheels, self-levelling LED projector headlamps, satin silver roof rails, and a hands-free tailgate on the outside.
Moving inside, the NX350h Luxury gets the 14-inch touchscreen infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, paired to a 10-speaker sound system with subwoofer, digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, 64-colour ambient lighting, a wireless charging pad, and eight-way powered seats with four-way lumbar support for the driver, all wrapped in genuine leather upholstery.

The ash open pore wood finish on the dashboard from the NX250 has been swapped for a “3D Cutting Black” trim, however.
Safety kit, meanwhile, remains identical from before, including the seven airbags with driver’s knee airbag, as well as the Lexus Safety System+ advanced driver assistance kit that includes features such as adaptive cruise control with stop-go functionality, Lane Tracing Assist, and autonomous emergency braking.
