Proton eMAS 7 launched in Trinidad and Tobago, marks second export market after Nepal

Pro-Net, the new-energy vehicle (NEV) subsidiary of Proton, has announced that the fully electric (EV) Proton eMAS 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7) has now been launched in Trinidad and Tobago.

Available as a sole Premium variant, the Trinbagonian Proton eMAS 7 features a front-mounted electric motor delivering 218 hp (160 kW) and 320 Nm, and is equipped with a 60.22 kWh battery pack enabling a range of 410 km (WLTP). This mirrors the specifications of the Premium variant in Malaysia.

The launch of the Proton eMAS 7 in the Caribbean marks the second international market for the EV SUV following its introduction in Nepal three months ago.

Held at the capital city of Port of Spain, the launch event was officiated and witnessed by Sector Head of ANSA Motors Limited and Alexander Sabga, General Manager, New Business Development of ANSA MCAL Ltd, Jean-Marc Mouttet. ANSA Motors is Proton’s official distributor in the dual-island Caribbean nation since 2013.

In conjunction with the launch of the Proton eMAS 7 in the country, ANSA Motors also unveiled a new Proton eMAS showroom at The City of Grand Bazaar, which will support the sales and after-sales service of Proton eMAS models.

To date, 481 units of Proton vehicles have been exported to Trinidad and Tobago. This includes 271 units of the Proton X50, 141 units of the Proton X90, and 44 units of the Proton Saga.

Following the launch of the Proton eMAS 7 in Trinidad and Tobago, the national brand is also preparing to launch the eMAS 7 in Mauritius and Singapore later this year. The Proton eMAS 7 was previewed last month in Singapore at The Car Expo 2025.

Director of Proton International Sales Division, Lim Meng Thong, said, “It strongly reflects our commitment to leading the adoption of EVs in the nation and marks another pivotal step in our international expansion.”

“This also clearly demonstrates Proton’s dedication to leading the charge for EV adoption in our export portfolio and we can’t wait to roll it out to additional export markets such as Mauritius and Singapore later this year,” he added.

Closer to home, Proton is also preparing to launch its second eMAS model in Malaysia, the Proton eMAS 5

During the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 last month, the carmaker previewed a heavily camouflaged model of the Proton eMAS 5, based on the Geely Xingyuan, hinting at an imminent launch in the Malaysian market soon.
