The Geely Xingyuan, a fully electric (EV) hatchback showcased at the Shanghai Auto Show 2025, is confirmed to be heading to Malaysia as the second Proton eMAS model. It would be called as the Proton eMAS 5.
In China, the Xingyuan is offered in five variants, with prices ranging from RMB68,800 (approx. RM41k) to RMB97,800 (approx. RM59k).
Based on the “Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture” (GEA), the Geely Galaxy Xingyuan measures 4,135 mm long, 1,805 mm wide, and 1,570 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm, placing its size on par with the BYD Dolphin. You might notice the “GEOME” badge it sports. That’s a nod to its original launch under Geely’s Geometry brand.
While Geometry has since merged with Geely Galaxy, the Xingyuan still wears its old Geometry emblem, unlike the Starship 7. This might cause some head-scratching, leading people to think it’s the older Geometry Xingyuan. Perhaps a facelift will bring a badge update.
Depending on the variant, the base Xingyuan features a central 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display, an 8.8-inch digital gauge cluster for the driver, and a four-speaker sound system.

Higher-spec variants boast a larger 14.6-inch central display and an 8.8-inch LCD driver’s display, and paired with a six-speaker sound system.
Other standard interior features include Geely’s “Multi Functional Smart Island,” a centre console housing cupholders, storage, a wireless phone charger, the gear selector, and climate controls.
Higher-end variants of the Geely Xingyuan also feature a 256-colour urban starlight ambient lighting system, projected behind a city skyline graphic and capable of interacting with the music’s rhythm.
Boot space in the Geely Xingyuan is rated at 375 litres, expanding to 1,320 litres with the rear seats folded. It also offers a 70 litre frunk. Higher variants add a 10 litre storage drawer in place of the glove box and under-rear-seat storage.
The Geely Xingyuan offers two powertrain options. Base variants are powered by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 79 hp (58 kW) and 130 Nm, paired with a 30.12 kWh lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery pack providing a range of 310 km (CLTC).
Higher-end variants of the Xingyuan feature a more powerful rear-mounted electric motor producing 116 hp (85 kW) and 150 Nm, coupled with a larger 40.16 kWh LFP battery pack enabling a range of 410 km (CLTC). Standard safety features on the Geely Xingyuan include four airbags and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Higher variants upgrade this to six airbags and gain several advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including a 540-degree surround-view camera with transparent chassis, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition.
With Proton aiming to launch at least three models in 2025, one of which is expected to be based on the GMA platform (the same GEA platform as the Xingyuan), the aforementioned EV hatchback from Geely could make its local debut as the Proton eMAS 5, joining the eMAS 7 as the second model in the eMAS lineup.
