Honda e:N1 now open for booking – Honda Malaysia’s first EV to launch in Q2 2025

Following its teaser at the 2024 Kuala Lumpur International Show, Honda Malaysia has now announced the opening of order books for its first fully electric (EV) crossover, the Honda e:N1.

No estimated pricing has been announced just yet, although industry experts suggest that it should be priced around the RM160-170k mark here in Malaysia. The Honda e:N1 will make its official debut in Q2 2025.

The Honda e:N1 is essentially the EV counterpart to the Honda HR-V, with both cars sharing nearly the exact same dimensions save for a couple millimetres in length and height, although the company says that it’s built on a separate EV-specific platform, dubbed the e:N Architecture F.

The suffix in the platform stands for front-wheel drive, where the Honda e:N1 is equipped with a single electric motor delivering up to 204 hp (150 kW) and 310 Nm of torque.

Based on global specifications, that should be sufficient for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.7 seconds, onward to a top speed of 160 km/h. Paired to a 68.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the Honda e:N1 promises up to 500 km (NEDC) of EV driving range.

Specific charging details were not mentioned, although its Thai counterpart – which should share most of its specifications with the Malaysian car – quotes an AC charging capacity of 11 kW, and DC fast charging at 78 kW.

Styling wise, the Honda e:N1 stands out with a handful of EV-exclusive touches, including the unique front fascia sans grille, replete with a panel hiding the charging ports, 18-inch aerodynamic-optimised wheels, and white “H” badges throughout the vehicle (and key fob) that supposedly symbolises Honda’s electrification.

Instead of a Honda badge at the back, the hatch door features a spread-letter “Honda” emblem featuring a new typeface, which the company says “further accentuates the premium feel of the Honda BEV”.

The biggest difference between the e:N1 and HR-V is found on the inside, where instead of a screen perched on top of the dashboard, the EV crossover features a prominent 15.1-inch touchscreen display mounted in a portrait orientation in the centre of the dashboard.

The large touchscreen is paired to a separate 10.25-inch digital instrument display for the driver – although the rest of the dashboard architecture remains largely similar. On the centre console, the traditional gear lever is also replaced with a row of buttons for gear selection.

Honda Malaysia has revealed that the e:N1 due for our shores will be equipped with a wide range of advanced driver assistance features, including – for the first time in a Honda Malaysia vehicle – a blind spot monitoring system. Other features include Cross Traffic Monitor, as well as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane keep assist, among others under the Honda Sensing banner.

Interested customers can log on to Honda Malaysia’s booking mini site (linked here) or the HondaTouch application to book their cars. At launch, only eight Honda dealerships across three regions are appointed to “specifically handle customer enquiries about the e:N1”. These are:

    • Accord Auto – Selangor
    • HZN Cars – Selangor
    • Tiong Nam Motor (M) – Selangor
    • Peringgit Sri Motor – Kuala Lumpur
  • Northern region
